As a Partner in Wellbeing, the Homeless Services Peer Specialist serves on the client’s caregiving team and translates lived experience in mental health recovery to assist clients in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their recovery process. The Peer Specialist will function as a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills, serving as a client advocate, and providing information and support to clients in their homes and other community settings. Facilitate group sessions teaching clients various topics related to recovery, wellness, self-esteem, healthy relationships, and overcoming fears. Support clients and families by providing access to available community wellness, recovery, and other care opportunities. Assist peers in articulating their goals for recovery, learning, developing empowering skills, and modeling effective coping techniques.
