Northwestern Apartments

A community focused on becoming well.

Individuals experiencing serious mental illness often have difficulty identifying and accessing support when they need it most. At Northwestern Apartments (NWA), our multidisciplinary team of mental health providers is available seven days a week to assist and support residents working towards the goal of independent living. We provide a safe, healing environment where residents can focus on becoming well again.

Each furnished apartment has two bedrooms, a living room, dining area, kitchen, bathroom, and a large storage area. The apartment building is situated on a spacious lot with a place for gardening and outdoor recreation. This allows residents to practice independent apartment living similar to what may be expected in the community.

Residents of NWA meet regularly with mental health providers assigned following the completion of a comprehensive assessment. Residents learn and practice coping skills to manage their mental health once they transition to independent living. Alluma employees assist residents with learning daily living skills such as:

  • Shopping and meal preparation
  • Grooming and hygiene
  • Money management

Collaboration with our other programs is encouraged and could include ARHMS, CSP, and TCM.

When residents are ready to transition back to the community, they are equipped with the tools and support needed to have the quality of life they desire. Alluma provides follow-up outpatient options to support residents’ continued recovery, wellbeing, and growth.

To be eligible for the NWA program, clients must:

  • Be a Minnesota resident age 18 or older
  • Complete a comprehensive assessment
  • Complete the interview and admission process
  • Have residency in one of the following counties: Polk, Norman, Red Lake, Mahnomen, Norman, Pennington, Marshall, Kittson, or Roseau
