Infant and Early Childhood Services

Fostering healthy development from the start.

Parenting is hard, especially when your child struggles to manage their behaviors and emotions and clearly show their parents when they need them. Our Infant & Early Childhood Program focuses on supporting the emotional and social development of children aged 0-5. We emphasize early intervention and parent engagement to support a secure attachment and address potential issues from an early start.

Comprehensive Evaluation

Age-appropriate assessment and diagnosis are key to providing effective mental health support for children from birth through age five. At Alluma, we use a developmentally appropriate tool for assessing and diagnosing mental health and developmental disorders in young children. The DC:0-5 is a diagnostic system that identifies these challenges while considering how relationship and environmental factors contribute to the child’s social and emotional wellbeing and developmental progress.

Attachment and Biobehavioral Catchup

Attachment and Biobehavioral Catchup (ABC) is an evidence-based intervention aimed at helping caregivers provide nurturing care to children aged 0-5. The program consists of weekly one-hour sessions over ten weeks, focusing on enhancing the child-caregiver relationship and promoting healthy emotional and behavioral development.

Child-Parent Psychotherapy

Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is a therapeutic intervention for young children who have experienced traumatic events. The therapy focuses on the child-parent relationship to restore the child’s sense of safety, attachment, and appropriate behavior. CPP helps both the child and caregiver process the trauma and develop healthier interaction patterns.

Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation

Early childhood mental health consultation is designed to build the capacity of staff, families, programs, and systems to prevent, identify, treat, and reduce the impact of mental health problems among children from birth through age five and their families. We work closely with early care professionals, like classroom teachers or home visitors to work on improving the social, emotional, and behavioral health of children in early care and education programs.

Parent Support and Education

Parenting is hard, and at times, we all feel lost. At Alluma, we offer Circle of Security parenting groups (COS-P) designed to help parents and caregivers better understand and build on their relationships with their children. When using COS-P, our therapists work with parents or caregivers to help them to:

  • Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs and cues
  • Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions and turn to caregivers when in need
  • Enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem
  • Honor their innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure
